Other kinds of omega-3 fatty acids.
There are plant-based sources of omega-3 fatty acids such as certain vegetable oils and nuts. These sources produce primarily the short chain alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 that must go through an inefficient conversion process in the body to make omega-3 long chain fatty acids (like DHA and EPA).
